Oops, fixed.

Found a trans. Does $300 sound high? Best price I've found, just seems steep for a 5spd... :-/ I'd like to replace the clutch, flywheel, slave, etc while I'm this far, but with a $300 trans were talking a lump of cash to "do it right" but everything is original with 200k+ on the clock.

I would at least do the slave. If you don't do it now you will have the trans out within a month to replace the slave when it blows.

Well I bit the bullet and to hopefully avoid pulling the trans again I purchased:

Transmission
Clutch kit
slave cylinder
flywheel
Rear main seal
Oil pan gasket
Starter (twisted he small stud off mine unfortunately)

I'm hoping I can change the oil pan gasket while the flywheel and trans are out of the way, it leaks like all hell.

I also opted for the cheaper non self adjusting clutch kit as it was significantly cheaper and I'm already pushing $700+ hope that wasn't a mistake.

I was able to get the pan pulled without lifting the motor by removing the pull pickup tube, not too bad.

Anyone have ant insight to the adjusting vs non adjusting clutch?

Alright, well....


...I got the transmission in along with all the other new goodies. The new clutch is GREAT, mine original at 200k along with t/o and slave REALLY needed to be changed. Transmission shifts smooth as butter.

HOWEVER it does whine rather noticeably in all gears but 4th. I'm guessing mainshaft or pocket bearing. Damnit
