M5OD tail shaft

Doing the clutch here next weekend. The drive shaft doesn't have a flanged connection to the tranny. Is it just a splined slip shaft that pulls out?

Also, if so, does the tranny need to be drained?

It just pulls out. You don't have to drain the trans, but you will probably loose some fluid out the rear if you don't. Unless you can find the correct butt plug.
 
If you're up on ramps you might lose some more, I didn't loose more than a few drips when I pulled my driveshaft a while back. But yes, it just pulls out and you don't need to drain it.
