m5od shifter slipped while in gear

so, the shifter ball came out on me while the truck was in gear, 1st i think. now when re-installing i cannot get the thing to shift. how in the heck do i get out of this mess....

the powers that be are on my side today, holy smokes.

i was using the shifter knob open as a way to fill the new correct fluid in the trans. i forgot that the truck was in gear and only remembered as the shifter boot pulled the ball part that goes into the transmission, as i was removing it.

obviously i couldn't get the shifter to drop in properly and we were locked in gear. i eventually got to the point of taking a long flat head screw driver and rummaging around in there with a flash light. well, i stumbled upon being able to pop a little dowel, or pin, and then got something to move around in there, wallah, i managed to slip the pin for first gear and get whatever it is down there to fall into neutral.

we're in business. hopefully this helps someone else down the road.

I need to do the same with fourth gear. Any clue as to where it is? I just want to get to the wallah part...
