m5od rebuild

has anyone ever rebuilt the m5od-r1 tranny before? the problem im having is getting information on rebuilding it. i have a diagram but need to know the steps in rebuilding it. does anyone know how to get the front bearing (behind the slave cylinder) off? any info would be helpful.

Disassemble the BACK of the trans first.

After everything is off the back stand the trans on it's bellhousing and force the output shaft forward (or give it a good wack with a block of wood) and the front bearing retainer will come off.

I'll post a complete detailed step by step instruction.... Someday...

THE thing is just getting it apart and back together is less than half the battle.

The other half is inspection of the parts,
knowing what is good or bad
Knowing degrees of "less than perfect"

Basically knowing where to look and understanding what you are looking at when you see it.

For example I BLEW UP my own transmission.
Not a "Horse" failure,
Not even a "Zebra" failure,
a real honest-to-god "unicorn" failure

I BROKE my output shaft

While I'm disassembling the trans I'm putting back in
I rejected the cluster gear.
a friend who just dropped by spent almost an hour staring at it
and still needed to be told what was wrong, and he's a physicist, engineer and a skilled machinist.
(the problem was pitting on the coast side
roots of the 3rd gear teeth)

Often a screwed up part is OBVIOUS but what is important before putting it back together is identifying parts that while they haven't failed, are about to...
