I have been looking for thread to answer this but havent found one yet, if there is one can someone send me a link?

I have read about how much better the m5od-r2 shifts with the shifter Hurst made for it but they seam to have discontinued that shifter. They still make the one for the r1.

My question is would they interchangable? I understand the shifter length would be different but considering I will be using the r2 in a ranger and not a 150 I would rather have the shorter shifter.

As always thanks to anyone who wastes thier time trying to help.

I may be wrong, but I was under the assumption that they same one fit all the M5s. Call Jegs or Summit, both have awesome customer service.

In the threads I saw, people said that it did NOT interchange with each other.

If they were, I'd have one already.

I already called Hurst. They told me that you cannot use the R1 parts in the R2.

Using a stock Ranger shifter in the R2 will shorten the throws about 25% simply because the Ranger shifter is shorter in length. You still don't get the Hurst's adjustable stops but you also don't get the leaks and rattles that many Hurst owners have complained about.

If you decide to try the Ranger shifter on the R2, here's something to be aware of: some Ranger shifters use a fore/aft wedge bolt (early) and some use an left to right bolt (late). Be sure to check if the shifter matches the stub in the transmission. It is possible to modify a mismatched set but easier if you don't have to.

I read a recent post on one of the forums regarding someone using the F150 Hurst shifter in a Ranger. I can't provide info on the years involved, but the info is out there. Comment was cheaper price, and only difference being the length of the handle. You may want to search TRS/RPS to verify, of course.

i am using my ranger hurst shifter in the m5r2 that i put in when i swapped to v8 and it works just fine.

What did you get the transmission out of?

98 4.2 v6 f150.

Hmmm mine is from a 1997 F-150... might as well give it a shot since the two years were the same as far as I know.
