Hey everyone im looking for a 3.0 5spd fl4wd trans does anybody know the difference between these ID tags 1L54 and F87A?

There is no difference. The numbers that you posted are build dates and simply reflect whe the transmissions were built.

A 3.0 4x4 M5 is a 3.0 4x4 M5.

Nope turns out those numbers reflect whether it uses a OSS sensor or a VSS sensor, took a lot of digging to find that out, car-part.com sure helps

a 4x4 wouldn't have it in the transmission anyway. it would be in the transfer case or rear end

That is what I said.....when they were built. The OSS and the VSS are for different years. It should not have taken any digging for that!!

Yes but apparently some 04s had vss out the transmission
