Hello, I have a M5OD-R1 (4x4) from a 2000 4.0 ranger that I am trying to put into my 1993 4.0 ranger (4x4). I noticed that the 2000 transmission has a electronic speedometer sensor? And the 1993 is cable driven. Is there anyway to convert or make it work so it will function correctly in my 1993?

I'm pretty sure the Speedo cable connects to the transfercase

Yes I understand that. Sorry for the misunderstanding . My question is , on my 1993 the speedometer is cable drive. And the 2000 is not, how do I make it to where it functions properly once installed in my 1993

I'm with the above, are you taking the transfer case with the transmission? If so, you're going to have more problems than the speedometer as the newer 1354 transfer cases have a CV front driveshaft. There shouldn't be anything connected to the transmission that should be different between the two, the speedometer output on the older truck is driven by the transfer case output shaft, the newer one is driven off the rear differential so nothing in the transmission output shaft. You mentioned your truck was a 4x4, if it was a 4x2 this would be an issue as the tailhousing would not have the speedometer output gear or hole on the tail housing...

If you are swapping between 4x2 and 4x4 parts that could explain some things, but you didn't mention that.

Both vehicles/transmissions are 4x4. Stated in first post

Yeah, if you're only swapping the transmission it shouldn't be a problem. Use your current transfercase and call it a day!

Don’t have the 93’ transfercase lol. Only the 2000 trans/transfercase

What happened to the '93 case??
(As said, the '00 case won't work for other reasons)

You'll need to find a '90-'97 1354 case at a wrecking yard then (maybe if you get lucky, the yard would be willing to trade you straight-across for your '00 case).
