So It says to use4 2.8 Qts of MERCON ATF in this transmission, So Can I run Royal Purple or B&M Trick Shift????

What ever is compatible with Mercron V ATF. The back of the bottle should show what it is compatible with.

Yes, you can run those fluids.

Frankly I'd recommend the B&M for one good reason, it's blue.

Being blue will tell you that the puddle in the parking lot under your
truck is your puddle.

GREAT thinking.

I was going to run it, until I saw the $5 a bottle. I bought a $7 gallon of penzoil atf on clearance instead.

I wouldn't touch anything said to be "Mercon V" compatible for a M5OD transmission '07 or older.
Gotta be straight Mercon for me. Too many reports of the shift quality going to s#!t with Merc V.

I run Royal Purple. And if I remember correctly, isn't B&M not a fully synthetic? Only $5 a bottle? cool...RP is damn near $15 now.

i just changed mine...used Mobil 1 ATF, said right on the back to be used in place of MERCON, NOT Mercon V.

while the later M5OD-R1 transmissions (starting about '98)
they are designed to tolerate Mercon-V and infact many
were factory filled with mercon V, but frankly after having
run one of those transmissions on mercon V I don't personally
recommend it.

Shift quality issues.

i like the pennzoil syncromesh fluid myself, its about 7/qt. ive tried every a.t.f. out there and none were any better than another. with the pennzoil, it seems to shift better and ive noticed the shift lever doesnt get near as warm where it goes into the the boot to the trans. (i have a hurst) seems to me that if it isnt getting as hot, its doing a better job. ahve ran it for 2 years/20,000 miles now. occasionally pull a 6x10 enclosed trailer.
