M5od help needed, mid swap

heres my free m5od trans i got off a buddy. its 2wd and im gonna have to put it in like that until i find a 4wd tailshaft or 4wd m5od, not the ideal thing to do but since i have to buy a clutch and all that and this is my dd i gotta get this going. the a4ld dumped on me, and i definately aint putting another back in

will my speedo and gear assembly bolt into here? if not what can i put in there to seal the hole so fluid dont spit out. it looks like i can unbolt the vss looking thing and put my speedo gear in, but im not sure if the tailshaft has something to drive the gear

also what is this plastic broken piece in the shifter hole, and where can i get a new one?

when i put the shifter on and moved it around it didnt seem to have any play in it, but looks like some kinda stabilizing bushing

edit: i now know about the shifter bushing thing, and know how to fix it. what about the vss looking thingy? i pulled it and it has a gear inside, will my current speedo gear and all work with it? if not how can i plug the hole? sorry this was copy and pasted from another post

your speedo drive will go directly into that trans. (which has a BROKEN OFF VSS)

You need more than just a tailshaft harness to convert that trans to 4x4, the output shaft in the trans is also different and to replace that requires complete detailed disassembly of the entire trans.

yea i know about the tailshaft. more then likely im gonna pull the 2wd in the spring and replace it with a 4wd trans and gonna sell the 2wd one

forgot to mention that i got the crap a4 pulled today and tomorrow im going to start on the clutch stuff and try to get the new m5 in. i have a question, my m5 didnt come with the pigtail plug for the reverse lights, can i take off my neutral safety switch out of my a4ld and put it into the position on the m5 so i can have reverse lights. im not worried about the neutral safety and starting as i durasparked and ditched all of that crap, i unpluged it and started the vehicle before i pulled the trans just to be sure
