Lug nuts

I hope you can help me. I have a 1993 Ranger that I am upgrading wheels and tires because the 225-70-14s are getting hard to find. I am putting on a 99-2001 Ranger/Explorer 16X7 wheel, the angular 5 spoke wheel. I have OEM center caps PN YL5Z-1130-BA. What lug nut do I need? The parts people at Ford can't even figure it out. It appears the lug nut is what holds the cap on and so far everything I've tried doesn't fit.:icon_confused:

Ford did use center caps that attached to the lug nuts, so I'm assuming this is what you have from the description. The lug nuts have a flange on them that the center cap snaps over. I dont know part numbers right off the top of my head, but I bet if you went to a dealership, they'd know exactly what you needed. You'd be better off hitting a junkyard though, a dealership probably wants an arm and a leg for a set of 20.

Agreed, they're probably laying all over the ground in the Ford section at a junkyard... All you'd have to do is reach down and pick them up.

Ford began using the style lug nut you need on Explorers & Rangers in 1995, possibly all the way up through the '10 & '11 model years when they were redesigned as 'cars' (Explorer) or killed off completely (Ranger).

Sounds like you just need acorns. I think I have a center console full of them.

I went to the Ford dealer here and talked to another in Nevada and NEITHER of them knew what I wanted or could give me a part number.

Thanks! That had a picture of how it's supposed to fit. I have those and tried it again and it worked.
