Lug nut/ wheel surface damage....ideas?

So a little while back I got a set of 15x8 Eagle alloys for my truck, at which point I also bought a new set of lugs (the long kind that cover the whole stud - acorn with the 60 degree chamfer as on the wheels)...

Because the wheel center hole is larger than the extruded circle on the axle ends, the wheel is only centered by equally tightening the lugs .

But I am starting to worry about the gouges that are forming in the chamfers on the wheel...and some of the aluminum from the wheel is transfering onto the steel lugs and making the deep scratches worse. I am worried that in a couple of years the wheel will never center again bc the chamfers are so damaged. I went to a couple places and everyone just said 'yeah the happens and I don't know of a fix.'

But that isn't good enough for me. Do you guys have any thoughts, or have any of you at least had the same problem??
Any suggestions on what to do? Thanks

ive never seen that cause a problem before. i think by the time enough metal is removed to cause a problem, you and your truck will be looong gone.

if your really worried about it, file the excess aluminum off the nuts, and file the wheel holes smooth again then apply liberal amounts of bearing grease before tightening the lugs....this ought to at least slow down the chunking of the aluminum.

You're better off using a light smear of never seize on the taper than grease. What your having happen is called "galling". All you can do at this time (because the MINOR damage is already done) is clean up the tapers on the wheel and nut mating surfaces and apply a light smear of never seize to the taper. It's not a safety concern if it's not too bad.

You can get hubsentric rings if you are worried about it lining up. They are a small ring that goes inside the wheel bore to make it match the diamiter of the axle ends.

Here are some bad pics of what I was talking about... but they are all I can get. You can def see what I mean here. I looks kinda bad to me...

yeah I have been considering those... I was almost thinking about making some... I could get the inner diam and outer diam ok, but not sure how I would make them with such a small thickness without bending etc.

I'm thinking you should contact the vendor you purchased those wheels from and let them know of your issue. They might be able to shed some light on the subject.
