ok. im looking at buying a thrush welded muffler for my ranger 4.0, and im wondering what inlet and outlet diameter i should get if i want a nice low rumble, the 3", 2.5", or the 2.25". thanks for looking

2 1/4 inch with some 2 1/4" to 2" reducers... i recommend the flowtech raptor muffler.

^^^realy good choice. I have a my Flowmaster 40 on my 4.0. Good sound and they last a long time.

yeah, the cherry bombs make it too shrill........ got twin flowmaster 40s on my Lincoln and it sounds like a mustang.

I have found for the best sound (nice deep rumbly tones) that it is length that matters. get the longest muffler that will fit........... whatever you pipe dia is on the inlet and go with 3" out and run 3" all the way out the back. should make it sound like a built small block.
