Lower ball joint removal 2000 4x4

*Necro*

I have to do my lower bjs tomorrow, I've heard if you just freeze the ball joints you can get them in without a press, is that true?

I don't have a press, and I'm not going to buy one... Also I'm about 90% sure parts stores don't lend tools around here either

So how much up and down play is allowed in the lower ball joint before it needs to be changed...got 93,000 miles on the 2000 4x4.

That's right around the mileage when I replaced mine.

The key for me was that going over bumps became quite jarring, to the point that I also replaced the original shocks whether they really needed it or not.

I also replaced the UCAs at the same time, but they weren't sloppy whatsoever.

Try to get LBJs with a grease fitting!
