Over the last few days I have been experiencing charging problems. From time to time my truck is totally dead, I can move the harness coming off the positive battery terminal around and it will power up and am able to start the truck. After work today I started to look at the harness and noticed that the 175A megafuse is melted.

I assume there is a bad connection between the fuse and alternator?

Also have problems with the radio. It will shut off from time to time when driving and come back on. Also had the speedo jump around from 0-70 or so. All sroblems started around the same time.

Alternator was replaced about two months ago, batter is good as well.

Any info would be a life saver.

Was this issue with the truck being "totally dead" evident prior to replacing the alternator?

Was the alternator new or reman?

I have seen loose connections on the regulator cause overcharging. The one I was able to wiggle the regulator and get it to go down to 10V and up to 16 (at which point it loaded the unit up so much the belt started slipping).
