3.73 rear gear ratio (as per rear end tag)

I recently acquired this truck from my father who had parked it 4 years ago because it wasn't running right. It has very low power from a stand still. It's slow to get to speed but once it's up to speed it runs well. A couple of weeks ago after doing some diagnostic test driving at night, I noticed that the header was glowing red. I thought there must be some type of exhaust blockage. I removed the catalytic converter and installed a test pipe. The header still glows on a half mile test drive.
-Checked for vacuum leaks by spraying ether around intake tract.
-Checked timing:
28*-30* with spout connected
10* without spout
-fuel pressure 38 lbs. @ idle @ schrader valve
-no CEL (it does work)
-Compression tested motor:
Cyl. 1 - 150 PSI
Cyl. 2 - 160 PSI
Cyl. 3 - 160 PSI
Cyl. 4 - 160 PSI
all held PSI for approx. 20-30 minutes
-I drove the truck without the spout connector thinking that this might be timing related but it was still sluggish and the header still was glowing.
-I ran a diagnostic EEC check which result in all good! More specifically:
KOEO
111
111
1
111
111
KOER
111
111
Recently done:
rebuilt transmission (2005)
new fuel pump
new fuel filter
new fuel pressure regulator
new air filter
new O2 sensor
new ect sensor
new PCV
installed a "test pipe" in place of the catalytic converter
changed oil
fresh gas
Seafoamed fuel
I know this is getting long but I want to be as thorough as possible in giving all the background information I can think of. At this point, I feel I'm over thinking this problem. I'm quite sure that this is something very simple but I'm too close to see it. I'm hoping some fresh minds might be able to put me on the right track. Any ideas on this matter would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for your time!
