I have an 87 B2 and I've replaced the fuel pump in the tank, the filter, and changed the fuel pressure regulator(not a new one). Now when i changed the regulator fuel was shooting out of the release valve and it started and ran for a few minutes. Then it died and when i went to go start it nothing. I pushed the release and it was only seeping out. Could this regulator be bad too or could it be something else?

Yea the used one could be bad, did you get any fuel sucked into the vacuum line?

Assuming there is fuel in the tank :)

Most fuel injected systems prime the system when key is first turned on, so you should hear the fuel pump prime for 1 or 2 seconds when key is turned on(fuel rail should have pressure now).
If you don't hear it then fuel pump is not getting power, that could be the fuel pump relay or an inertia switch issue.
Relay should be in the engine compartment on its own, usually on the passenger side but not always.
You can use a jumper in the relay to test if pump comes on, if it does then either the relay is bad or it is not being triggered.

Inertia switch on rangers is behind the passenger kick panel, the inertia switch is used to shut off the fuel pump if truck is in an accident, but they can become intermittent or fail completely.

That's what im starting to think it is the inertia switch cause im not hearing either of the pumps kick on and prime just the gas gauge. Im gonna check it out. How do i tell if its tripped?
