Low fuel pressure

My 89 ranger 2.9 4x4 has low fuel pressure 20 to 22 psi changed the pressure regulator filter and 2 years ago fuel pump lines look good what else can it be

I bought my b-II with a 4.0 already installed. I had problems since I bought it that progressively got worse. I finally tracked it down to the little hose attaching the pump to the lines inside the tank. The PO had used who knows what type of hose, I replaced it with fuel line and no problems since.
Edit; same symptoms....20 psi and no power but would idle fine.

My 89 ranger 2.9 4x4 has low fuel pressure 20 to 22 psi. I changed the fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter, and fuel pump two years ago. The lines look good. What else can it be?

Sometimes there are more than one fuel filters on the fuel system. One in between the two fuel pumps and one in between the engine and fuel pump. My '86 has two.

The pump can get weak over time. I've had 2 vehicles in the last 5 years that had to have new in tank pumps.

Just FYI I've read a number of times that too frequent use of fuel injector cleaner can erode theinsulation on the wires in the pump motor as they are immersed in gas which cools the pump motor.

Also there's usually a simple "sock" filter on the pump, it's always possible that is partially plugged also.
