I'm looking at pushing my tires out a couple inches on my 2001 Ranger 4x4 to widen its stance.

I have the stock 16" inch wheels and look to replace them with new wheels with less backspacing (without having to use spacers), but I'm having a hard time finding wheels in the 2-3.5" backspacing range. :annoyed:

Does anyone run low backspacing wheels on their Ranger? If so, what brand and post up some pics if ya got them!

running them on the front plus bigger tires and if you decide to crank your t-bars will only put more stress on your ball joints and you wheel hub am make them wear out faster.

I have all of the above and accept the consequences, as I don't plan on keeping these control arms much longer and wouldn't have a problem with replacing ball joints if they went out.

Anyone have any pics?

balls joints are not the expensive part it the hub assembly that are 150-200 a piece mine wore out before 100k miles then i got a replacement and the replacement one wore out in two years less then 20k miles on it just something to keep in mind.

Look for rims meant for racing dirt or oval. You can get down to 0 backspacing. $50.00 ea and up. You can also buy the rims not welded and create your own backspacing. google is your friend.

i wouldnt get anything less than 3.5 look at 15x8 or 16x8 with 3.75 back spacing. thats the most popular. i have 15x8 with 3 3/8 back spacing with 32x11.5's.. thats pushing it for what i would do on width. i retighten my wheel bearings every two months just to be safe.

heres a couple to get the idea

BTW, I have done some research and so far my top choice is Allied Wheel Black Rock 8 beadlocks (RT8168012)

^^^You may want to check what backspacing you have now. IIRC those are the same as stock.
Edit, I see they are 10" wide so should do what you want or more.
Good luck.

They're 16x8 with 3.75" backspacing. I thought factory was 4.5"??? :icon_confused:

Honestly, I don't know right now. I've just started my first cup of coffee.

i dont know what size tires you are running but with those wheels, a 10.5 wide tire would be right about at the edge of the fender flare
