Bought my 2002 XLT new...and have had (what I argue is electronic/computer issues) soon after the original warranty ran out. I have had in in the dealership at least twice a year for the same issues.

1) This one has finally stopped, but it went along with # 2. The temperature dropped below 32 degrees, it would not start. It would crank, but not fire.

2) It started along with # 1, but it continues. Started at the "freezing point" problem, but not as defined now. My 4x4 has probably not worked more than 6 months since I have had it. It used to switch itself into 4x4 low (without the switch being touched) below 32 degrees. Would not come out (or start from # 1) until temps hit at least 32 degrees. At times, it started trying to switch at interstate speeds. Not as temp related now, but I mostly keep the fuses pulled.

Each time I've taken it to the dealership, it would work correctly for about a month. Replaced the switch (actuator?) at the gear box, claimed my whole vacuum system was leaking at one point and replaced it all. Nothing worked for long.

This truck has always had a slow battery drain as well. Without use, it is dead within a week. When the 4x4 wants to act up, you can listen to the dash clicking.

Anyone could help me figure this one out and I will address you as King on every post after this!!!

Welcome to TRS~

This is actually the introduction forum and usually you won't get replies to tech issues...especially if they may be complicated...

I would suggest posting it in the engine forum that you have (4.0, 3.0, 2.5, or 2.3) and go from there...

As much as I'd like to be worshipped as a King, I'm not sure I can even offer a suggestion on this one...I know my Ranger would not start when the temp got below -10 Celcius, and found out that the carb was dumping too much fuel...with the lower spark due to the cold it would simply not start...fixed it by adjusting the carb...

On your truck it sounds like you have two or three issues (battery drain, transfer case shifting, and no start)...they may be related but, again, there is bound to be someone on here with the same or similar problems...

Thank you Mark. I will do just that...

I appreciate the response.
