Hope this is posted in the right area for help.

This is pissing me off.
Have a 04' 4 door Ranger Edge with 40,000 miles. While driving, I get loud squeaks coming from the driver's door at ear height. I've totally saturated all the rubber seals around the door with Armor All. I can have the rear door open, close the driver's door, and still get this squeak when shutting. WTF! What else can I do? Any advice would greatly be appreciated....

is this while opening the door, and closing ?
or while driveing, id say wd the hell outa the hinges, better yet, parts cleaner(brakleen)
and scrub with a plastic brush and than wd40 it

and check for metal to metal contact on the doors, your pins could be worn

Happens when closing and driving. The squeak seems to be coming from rear top of door right next to head while sitting in driver's seat. Don't think it is from the hinges, but I will try cleaning them and using WD40. Thanks for the response!

I get the squeak when closing my passenger door, have yet to figure it out and its coming from about the same location as yours.

It may be that the seals are not seating correctly (or worn) and allowing just enough air through them and the steel to squeak/whistle.

I'll also check for metal contacts. The truck is very straight. The door shuts easy and I didn't notice any metal rub marks but I will look closer.

I can make the squeak with the truck sitting still. I'll try it with the windoes down after work.

I didn't have too many squeaks from my Ranger, but my Zuki has a hard top that squeaks on the highway and it drives me crazy...it's the plastic rubbing against the matal frame that is causing my noise and lubrication reduces it most of the time, but once it dries out it's back...

Could be your door is slightly out of alignment and the metal and/or rubber is causing the noise...look around the door for worn paint from the surfaces rubbing against each other...

Could also be the glass to rolling down the windows would be a good test...

Door squeaks? Man, I also hate them. They are so irritating! Why don't you try replacing the rubber seals? Maybe it will help. If there are still squeaks, ask help from an auto mechanic already.

Found the squeak! The top of the window track closest to the door handle floats at least 3/8 inch. I think it is suppose to so the window is never at a bind or under stress. I took the inside door panels off and seen the track can move. When moving, it squeaks. Sprayed WD40 on it and squeak is gone. I think I got lucky. :icon_thumby:

Sounds like the same thing my Ranger has. It comes and goes. But I notice it the most after I rolled down the window and then roll it back up. Maybe a new window track is in order to fix the problem.

Learjet, Try oiling the track where it slide on the frame first. You may not need to replace the track. I was just careful not to get any oil in the track or anywhere else where the glass might touch it. If you do, you might get an oil smear on the glass which won't go away even if you do your best on cleaning it up.
