Loud popping noise on driver's side

Yes, 02 4wds have front constant velocity (CV) axles, but driveshafts still have U-joints, he stated the chirping was coming from rear sliding window, therefore that points to the driveshaft, and the Universal joints (u joint).

I just bought a 1990 4X4 BII with a new 5 speed tranny & new clutch installed in it. I'm having a similar problem myself except it's when I back up & in a turn going backwards. I haven't had time to locate the exact noise yet as I have been busy replacing valve cover gaskets (bitch bitch bitch), plugs, wires & cleaning the IAC valve & throttle body. It sounds like a loud "POP" to me but not sure where it's coming from yet.

Guess I should have read a little closer, yes it does sound like a u-joint.
