Loud loud tick need help!

My truck has recently been actin up bad its a 90 2.9 and its aquired a very loud unhealthy sounding tick that sounds almost like a knock and from inside the cab it sounds like a diesel ...any tips on what it might be or how to cheaply fix it?

I think its a lifter but im not sure

If its as loud as you say it is and it happened to just randomly out of the blue I doubt its the lifter.
