getting lot of smoke at idle and when u get on it (when motor warms up) have 170 comp any ideas

What color is the smoke:
  • oil = blue
  • unburned fuel = black
  • coolant = white
The answer to this will help to diagnose the question.

I'd be doing a compression/leak-down test and taking a close look at the rings.

just did compression test as follows 1-6 180 170 170 165 165 180#6 plug real wet seems to be oil fouled

if ring in #6 sticking any ideas idules good except for smoke seems to have pleanty power seems to load up at stop lights blows lot of smoke at take off

besides boring you could try ring free additive in your fuel. seafoaming will help clean the cylinders but b4warned change the oil pretty soon to keep from really smoking the cylinders from loose carbon. you will have to change the oil to get the fluid and deposits from the cylinder. other than that run the piss out of it til she blows.

If it's loading up at idle, it could be a problem with valve stem seal blow-by. It also may be seen on mediate start up and at highway speeds when you shift. Then you may see a puff of smoke. Have someone follow you and watch for the smoke.
