ok, I've been driving my truck around with open headers for a couple weeks waiting to do my exhaust. Finished it this morning and went for a spin. I feel like I lost a significant amount of power?
I have shorty headman headers, I used two inch pipe from an old exhaust and pieced together everything. I used a dual inlet dual outlet turbo muffler from Thrush. No pipes after the muffler. Im not to stoked, its slow now. Id rather not have exhaust if it's going to be such a significant power loss. Any information on exhausts and how they can improve power or otherwise?

I'da thought the Thrush muffler would have done good?

I used true dual exhausts with a cat converter on each exhaust under the rear of the cab....no mufflers--just exhaust pipes out the back with harley-davidson chrome tips.....perfect low rumble sound...lotsa power....

I fell like an idiot. I forgot to mention that during that first spin with the exhaust the hose to my remote oil filter burst. Heater hose doesn't do the trick. Transmission line is better apparently. Well, when I lost oil pressure I pulled over. Cut out the part that burst. Put it back. Put in a quart that was in my truck and drove home. The drive home is when I noticed the power loss which I'm assuming now is because my oil pump froze or I twisted the oil shaft. Hopefully that's the extent of the damage. I have to pull the motor to find out... Considering some upgrades while it's out. Any suggestions for budget horsepower upgrades to a reman 302? I'm still learning so any suggestions would be good so I can better understand where the power comes from. Was thinking port match the exhaust. Maybe pull off the intake and port match them also. Idk really, just wanna make it GO! on a budget. Or how about resurfacing the heads? Saw this video on YouTube...

Would this be hard to do properly with two seperatep heads?

Dude, that sucks that you've had some damage done to the engine.

Doorgunner, be careful how you talk about "power" in your truck. There's a lot of people hating on the 2.9 right now...

Welp, i have updates. Unfortunately more stupidity on my part. So, while preparing to pull out my motor I noticed my remote filter lines where on wrong ( in to in) so stupid! And of course that would result in no oil pressure. And also in my case it resulted in a engine knock. Not diagnosed yet but my fingers are crossed that if anything at all its something easy like a rocker or a a lifter! Knock on wood!
