Periodically mt 1992 3.0 manule Ranger will start to slow down on the freeway. like it losing fuel Pressure. The more I push on the pedal the more it dies. but if I let of off it picks back up some.... I replaced the Fuel Pump. and have replaced the Frame Filter Twice now. Not sure if there is any where less fuel can clog. The truck sat for 5 years so I had to clean out fuel tank. replace filters and pump. Losing my mind... and have searched forums can seem to find any help.:icon_confused:

Still having same issue.. Clean MAF, new plugs, cap, rotor, New fuel filter, new fuel pump. Ran code checker.. no codes. not sure if 1992 can run and other test. Truck runs like a raped pig for day or two. then on longer trips it starts to die around 2600-3000 rpm. If you let up it will idle and run about 1500 rpm.. the biggest ??? is if i TURN OFF the key and let it coast.. it clears up for awhile..

Now ran code checker.. not getting anthing. replaced the Fuel Pump Relay today.. did the same thing on the way home. now its getting worse. does it constant. but if I turn key off let coast.. it will run for a few miles them start as soon as i rev over 2600... getting lost.. thinking of parting it out..

Might be a clogged cat.

Many muffler shops will check it with a thermometer for free.

Forgot that's all new. full exhaust system

It does have TPS but how do you check it?

how do you check it?

Not sure what readings you're looking for on a 92, but as I learned Ford specs voltage values rather than ohms. A simple test to see if you have any dead spots in the sensor is to disconnect the connector and hook up an analog OHM meter to the pins of the sensor and slowly depress the throttle from idle to WOT and see if there is even and uninterrupted travel of the meter's needle. A more accurate test (Ford's) would involve using a volt meter and back probing the hooked up connector with the KOEO and comparing those readings with Ford specs. You'll have to get someone else (or Goggle) to give you the exact procedure and specs on a 92 and which of the three pins to probe.

Thanks I will try that today.. I'm starting to think its not fuel pressure and more a sensor.

Did it sit in a garage or outside for 5 years? How are your gas lines?

similar issue on mine, but mine's auto so not sure if mines tranny or engine. on freeway cruise constant mph it will occasionally pulse.

It sat outside. thats why I had to flush and change all that i could in fuel system. ran two tanks through with seafoam..

Have you checked all of your fuel lines (mainly the rubber ones) for dryrot and cracks? On my old f250 I changed both the fuel pumps and it just turned out being a line that was so old and rotted that it would collapse once fuel started running through it through a period of time. Just my $.02

Tested TPS seems to run through without any dead spots.. as for the rubber fuel lines not sure if there is any on the 1992.. they all look like high pressure breaded lines.

Went head and replaced the (new) fuel pump with another (warranty) Truck ran great for about a week. no problems.. then no and behold it started it same old cutting out at 2600 to 3000 rpm crap..
