Loping up and down at idle when cold

My 93 XLT with 3.0 liter has been doing this for awhile now...kinda aggravating after the weather changes cause when it strangles and drops really low it runs rough enough to sometimes stall...but only in Park. In Drive it will not do this. So today, after I finished messing around with my outboards, I pulled the IAC off and douched it real good several times with Stuffmart carb cleaner. Put it back on and it still lopes a little bit when dead cold in Park, but not nearly as bad. Should probably replace it, but the holiday spendee, spendee season is upon us.
Just though I'd pass this along in case someone else is wondering about it.

That's probably pretty spendee, too...doesn't the MAF do its thing when you're moving, when air is going through the system and flowing across the sensor? I thought the IAC controlled the run quality at idle.

I've had rigs where I'm stopped at a stop light and it'll rev up and down. If I'm going down a hill in my truck and put it in neutral it'll rev up and down. But just sitting there it doesn't.
