Whats up guys ok this is my problem and its costing me to much money for process of elimination symptons are: lopes while idling or idles erratically ,loss of power,engine backfires ,excessive and i mean excessive fuel consumption, engine stalls,and hard to start sometimes it just wont start its like its not getting gas. motor rotates but will not start . ok this is what i"ve done to try to fix it with no luck . new parts tps, fuel filter plugs and wires rotor and cap , coil pack, pcv valve i listen for fuel pump to come on and it did vacuum lines are all new, head gasket and timing chain are about 2 years old i'm sure there is something i'm forgetting: thanks for your time

well your looking at air fuel or spark.

you have spark,
so possibly fuel. is your fuel pump weak? test your line preassure. you should be over 60 psi.
now on to air. That sounds exactly like a truck with a bad MAF sensor. and lights on? go to a junk yard and grab one for $10 and try that. when did it start?

idk if that motor has a map sensor, but my buddy's 2.9 had a bad map sensor and exhibited all of the symptoms you mentioned. just a thought.
