Guess I gotta change my driver side wheel bearing on my 99 Ranger, is this a pretty easy job with just basic hand tools or am I going to need something special?

It's actually not a bad job at all. It's just kind of a pricey part. The hardest part for me was getting that snap ring out because I had crappy pliers. It didn't take much to get the hub off.

Good luck!

I usually find getting the hubs out are the worst because not only do the morons at the factory glue them in good, but then they are usually corroded good too.

so what do I do about the black plastic cover thats on the outside of the hub, how does that come off? thanks for all the help

The 2wd only has one wheel bearing if Iremember correctly, A semi float setup? My 4wd has 2 wheel bearings, (full float) inner and outer. It takes me about 20-30 minutes to doo wheel bearings if your good at cramming grease in there. if you take your time and dick around a bit maybe an hour.

Semi Float and Full Float are terms used for axles, not wheel bearings.........

i'm willing to bet that there are different bearings between full and semi float though, making his statement valid.

But semi and full float only refers to solid axles, and usually only ones above 1/2 ton ratings. We are talking about the front end of the truck.

not to long ago i replaced both sides took no longer then 30 minutes but then again i have all the tools right there
