Looking for someone to swap a 302 into my 96

I pooped in the furnace.

Here is where I was going to start. Sounds like I'll be better off with my 2.3

I assumed that I could have parts and labor for 5k
If you can get by for $10,000 you’re doing well. If Extensive will do it for what they quoted you, you should jump on that. Just be aware that it will be worth less than half of whatever you put into it.

$10k is about what I would charge to do it in my garage. It would take years off my life.

A coyote I can see people passing on.

Windsor based 302 in a 96? Ala explorer profile with established smog cert...

Cake.

But you better be damn sure about smog. Vin lock is a paperwork formality in some cases... You need to check and directly state the intention. Depending on where your at will dictate what you want to do. Certain areas in texas make cali look like easy street.

Do you have a two car garage?

Consider this one:

Ford Ranger Race Truck - $12,000 (Lake City)

He would probably take $10,000 if he kept the drag radials.

If you watch the Atlanta CL in barter, parts, and "cars+trucks", a V-8 Ranger comes up about once a month. Usually with something wrong with it ...

If you wanted to tow this to my house, I would finish the 302 carb install for you. I am about finished with my 18 month F-150 project. I would assume they already did the 3" body lift, but, if not, it has to be done.

V-8 FORD RANGER PROJECT (TROY)

I guess it all depends on required emissions in your area. The race truck is already done and obviously it runs and drives fine. I would say there is no A/C, the interior is stripped, and it looks like a 12v fan behind the driver to keep him cool.

Probably because it stands to be a reputation ender, especially if you want to go "5.0" as in EFI and not a much simpler carb set up. Plus, many places do the SBC swap, not Ford, into 4x4s and hot rods. Maybe if you found a Mustang place or a decent speed shop.

Personally, I think you could do it yourself with help from this forum, especially if you went carb. The most important thing to remember if you have not pulled an engine before is be careful not to damage (human) body parts.

The 2.3L means you basically can not reuse any drive train component, except the rear axle, as you could if you were going from a 2.8/2.9L to a 4.0L. For $10,000 you could get a decent F-150 4x4 in the Atlanta area.

Obviously, I like the RBV vehicles and probably owned about 10, and sold them when working sales at Ford dealers. But, I do have a F-150 with a 351w for towing and before that I had a 4x4 E-250 van with a 351W for towing.

if you want the v-8 for coolness and being unique, that is fine, but, sometimes you just have to go with a larger vehicle.

Now, you have NO EXCUSE not to have a V-8 Ranger :-D

there is a shop here in corpus that does that kind of stuff pretty regularly. i don't know if he has specifically done a ranger but he has done lots of motor swaps and transplants into other vehicles. robert hester is the owner and a good dude. his wife used to live down the road from me before they got married and she is a big time jeep girl with a super modified wrangler.

Yes, the only reason it probably has not sold is it is a manual transmission. It looks like it is in good condition.
