Looking for help on oil pan R&R

Im doing a little job for a buddy ..
his Oil pan is shot on his 95 ranger...im having issues removing the Tranny inspection cover....is it used as a spacer all the way around the eng/Trans??

it looks like it stops just above the bottom bolt on each side...any advise??...thanks

it doesnt go all the way around, but the bellhousing alignment studs go through it.

thanks....i have the motor mount nuts removed and the motor jacked up as far as it will go but im still unable to remove the oil pan....are there any tricks to doing this??

ive never actually removed the oil pan with the transmission installed. ive heard its possible, but i cant imagine itd be fun...it was hard enough to snake it out with the transmission removed.

thats kinda where im at...the chilton makes it look like it should drop right out after tilting the motor....i think its going to be a long weekend....thanks for your input....Fred

You have to pull the engine or the transmission to remove the pan. Even after jacking the engine up it will not clear the bottom of the trans. Almost, but not quite.shady

I tried to pull my pan with the tranny and motor in, it doesnt work, bite the bullet and pull the motor or tranny, i pulled my motor, went pretty easy after i gave up being hard headed about not pulling either.
