Yeah yeah, go ahead and laugh, both of mine run ?

In all sincerity, I'm looking for cracked heads, junk blocks, etc. Freebie stuff if possible. Getting ready to port and stuff to mine, and want a practice set or two.

Haha, it doesnt seem easy to mess up with the 2.9 - seems like there's very little to remove according to Pruett:

Truth be told, if I can get a set of cracked/warped heads, at least one of them will be going on the band saw and be cut down into slices and profiles. I have at least four of them to port, so might as well get a good look at them inside.

You would think a set of cracked 2.9 heads would be easy to find, but nope, they're not.

At least I'm not trying to port a 2.6 or 2.8; porting is only 1/3 of the major work - Pruett suggests drilling the heads and block in a bunch of spots on both to increase coolant flow.

Isn't "Cracked 2.9 head" redundant?

Idk, three not cracked sets and two running engines here.

Only set I've personally seen cracked were on my 1990.

The guy I bought it from gave it to his girlfriend to drive.

She didn't like it, so she drained all the coolant and oil and kept driving it. Both heads cracked in the same spot, and that was it.

Just kidding, although I bet you have some medieval stuff like a trebuchet at your house.

Yes. I do. Full suit of fully functional armor from my SCA days, and a 1/4 scale trebuchet in the barn. It sits next to a 6" bore air cannon. ??

Well if you get over here and get the one I told you about it has a good 2.9 in it....

Smart thinking to practice first. From what I understand, the process isn't hard but detail oriented and time consuming. Looking at the diagrams you showed, I'm glad I don't have a 2.8 or 2.6.

Honestly really want to find a 2.6 to mess around with - it's just a de-bored 2.9 block. Apparently 2.9 heads fit.

The one I'd love to find out of the colognes is the 2.0 V6. Jusging just from rod and block specs, rev city.
