As long as they are both originally 4*4. Make sure the rear gears are the same ratio.

Both vehicles had a Dana 28 front axle. You can swap one to the other but Axle ratios need to be the same front to rear. Swapping the internal gears is a lot more work the just swapping axles. If you are only swapping the center section and not the whole assembly. Getting a new one with the same gears is the simplest, cheapest and least time consuming.

Also, changing gears is next level mechanic stuff. Not sure of your skill level and not deturing you. Just saying it aint easy and requires a lot of special tools. I rebuilt my entire B2 and that is the only job I hired out, (and it is not cheap).

If you want to see how frustrating swapping gears in an axle is, check out either ETCG1 or Eric The Car Guy on Youtube. He did a four part series on re-gearing a Ford 8.8 axle on his Ford Fairmont. It is not a job for the faint of heart and it would be a fantastic idea to have another vehicle to get around in until you get the project done. It’s not going to be a weekend project.

I loved that series and I have seen it multiple times. If you have the skills, you could use those videos alone to get the job done. I know I could do it, but I just don't want to take the chance and screw up 1000 bucks worth of stuff! If my gear guy screws it up he will fix it no cost.
