Hey guys. I have a highly modified 2004 Ranger. Anyone have any suggestions on who to call for an end to end bolt in 8.8 rear. Need a locker, gears, 35 spline axles. Soup to nuts.

I deal with Moser for the race car.

Any suggestions of someone well versed with a Ranger platform?

I would recommend Moser. Never dealt with them. But "it's what they do."

What are you going to be doing with the truck? A 31 spline 8.8 is a good axle and should serve well for 4x4 use or even moderate drag racing. Even the 28 spline 8.8 isn't a bad axle.

Thank you. Running an 8.8 with a 28 spline, true-trac on a 3.90 gear and I am sure I am going to break it.

6.0 LS on the hit. 275 pro radials and all calvert suspension. Its only a matter of time

Ill call tomorrow. Just seems ranger stuff is out of everyones wheelhouse

Only difference between a Ranger 8.8 and others is the width and spring perches. So you just need your 8.8 built with the right axle shafts. Or go with a stronger axle. I don't think the 9" is much different than an 8.8 strength-wise.

All that's needed to bolt in an explorer 8.8 is spring perches and shock mounts and like said they're almost as strong as a stock big bearing 9". If you hand an axle shop one and tell them to put the spring perches on top at the same spacing and get you some U bolts and put a Yukon Grizzly locker in and the gears you want that should do, if you want to get crazy get some aftermarket axle shafts... if there and putting power down weld the axle tubes to the pumpkin.

Which ever axle you decide to go with, mKe sure the tubes are welded to the differential housing. People have spun a tube doing less.

Other than that. The strongest 8.8 is an 8.8 with 31 splines. Anything stronger, you’ll need a bigger axle.
