Well guys I am looking at a new Ranger.

They're asking $3750, but I can have it for $3000.

1995
3.0 5spd, 4wd
Purple
120k on the odometer

The Good:
Good body, 99% rust free. Saw a very tiny bit of rust on the bottom of the tailgate. Looked like surface rust. 2in body lift. Manual hubs and manual 4wd gear selector. Cab clearance lights. :yahoo:

The bad:
The resistor on the blower motor is bad, flashers don't work. Cruise doesn't work. 2in body lift with 235's. There's this ticking I can feel in the gas pedal when I punch the pedal, basically ever time I open the throttle. Gets more pronounced when throttle opens wider. Also sounds like an exhaust leak with the ticking, so basically a ticking exhaust leak. Thats the best way I can describe it. Does not do it during idle.

What the hell could that ticking exhaust leak be? Kinda sounds like valves. I have a friend who used to have a 2.3 Ranger with a similar sound and it needed a valve job. Is is a really bad thing or nothing too bad that shouldn't stop me from buying the truck? And also the clutch pedal is really soft compared to the truck I have now. My current truck is a '93 with a 4.0.

Hehe. I actually kind of like it. But trucks with nearly rust free bodies are hard to find around here. Plus regular cab Rangers are kind of a rarity on the market here. The ones that do go for sale are either un-affordable for me or too beat up.
