Transmission
Manual
1986 Ranger Ext cab, manual tcase, 5 speed 2.9

i called him because i needed a transmission for the 4x4 swap on my current ranger, and i got down there and he said i can take he whole for $100

i get down there to see that she has a 3" body lift, a load of extra leaf springs in the rear, and very very little fender trimming.

trucks got the push button for 4x4, but got the manual lever, and he said his kid put the manual hubs on himself, so im guessing he swapped in the manual tcase too

she got the aftermarket front brush-guard type thing, shes flat black, black bumper, and black grill, a bad ass looking truck

so tomorrow i hope i will get down and give her a boost and get her home, and use her for the fullwidth d44 and 9" instead of swapping in the tcase and trans in the 88

if i go down tomorrow ill try to get pics

oh yea and the floor used to be bad so he fiberglassed it and the chassis is good

You know fiberglass is not a good way to repair a floor right?

better than a big hole, will it 'fade' away or 'disolve' or anything?

The fiberglass will possibly turn brittle and not support much, the other issue is that the rust that more then likely is just covered over with the 'glas is going to continue to rot till its past where the repair is and then it will fall out. The best way is to buy a repair panel and weld in place after removing all the old rusted metal. Second best would be to use a product like Fusor 100ez and rivets then coat with a product like POR-15, Rustolem, etc.

You cant lose for $100. The trucks sounds sweet though.

an '87 or earlier 5sp manual?

It's probably a Mitsubishi FM145.
Which means you probably don't want it.

If you have holes in the floor and you know how to do fiberglass the right way it can be very strong and not rust anymore then normal. Sometimes people dont have the right tools or even know anybody with the right tools to do metal. Of course you dont want to use it where supports are rusted away. If you grind the rust off/out and rough up the metal 4-5 inches or more back from the hole its will not draw moisture or rust anymore where the fiberglass is,the epoxy is stable and is not gonna get brittle,at least for a very long time if its not exposed to sunlight. I'm not saying I would try replacing the whole floor if it was gone.

thats what im saying for $100 i cant go wrong, i gotta wait till sunday or monday i think and im gonna go down and boost her and get her going and then drag her up or i might be able to drive her :D

i posted the following in the wrong thread so here it goes here:

i dont think i will be getting her until monday, theres a big community trade fair, almost like a flea market but its advertising different companys and thats on until saturday, so my buddy will be at that, and sunday is no good cause the owner of the ranger is religous, so it might have to wait until monday, but i told him that i am having it
