Long weekend wheeling and camping!

Some great pics there. Looks like a real nice area.

Yeah, you don't just go stealing old artifacts like that. Very uncool (old steel & iron like that isn't worth the gas and w&t on your vehicle to haul it out of there anyway).
Out in the desert not far from where I'm at there are similar pieces of history like that. It's always interesting to go check them out. But to find that some stupid idiots put a bunch of bullet holes in everything and/or stole stuff is pretty disgusting (especially when the cabins were still in livable (campable) condition and now are severely water-damaged and overrun with rodents because of the holes and broken windows :annoyed: ).

thanks!! :thefinger:

yeah, y'all are right, my bad.....a bunch of miner's leaving all their leftover shit, trash and abandoned buildings on the top of a mountain is definitely history that needs to be preserved, how could i have been so shortsighted

You must be pretty closed minded if you actually believe that, why would you feel the need to pack stuff out that has been there untouched for so long?

We drive to camp, hike up the mountain another 1000 vertical feet, wander around through the old buildings and see some pretty neat things from a long time ago. It's pretty amazing what they did with what was at hand up there. The old blacksmith shop is still standing and there is some very cool old stuff in there. It's amazing to see how some of this stuff survives the elements.

Here is the website of the company who still owns the claims in the area, there are some cool pictures of what it used to look like back in the 60's and also the last time they were prospect drilling up there in 87.

I def need to agree with sasquatch on this. Its not a museum, its random shit that somehow has been preserved and people have unselfishly left it completely alone. Its true history, not recreated and quite frankly its a beautiful site. The shortsightedness 88 would be to selfishly think that by destroying that stuff its ok and noone really cares if you trash a vacation spot that some dad would love to take his family too. But then again we arent all taught to be appreciative of things that could be gone tomorow.
