I posted a couple of times briefly in 2010. At that time I was shopping for a second vehicle for a DD and thought about a Ranger.

Ultimately I ended up with a car, a 97 Mazda Protege. Well, after 2 1/2 years, I ditched the Protege (though it was a good car) and now have a Ranger again!

Well, not exactly a ranger. Technically a Mazda, but it's a '96 B2300 so it's a Ranger under the skin. 141k, 5 speed and it's a 2300 so of course it's got the 2.3l 4 cyl. It's a 2wd reg cab, which is just what I needed (I have a 2007 4runner for when things get slippery or when I need to pull my trailer.)

Anyway, I'll probably be here a lot just trying to hash out some mechanical issues. The truck runs fine, but it needs a new stereo (previous one was stolen) and the body is banged up a little bit, though not badly. There are some other minor issues involving the interior that I'd like to take care of, as well.

I am looking forward to having a truck again, I missed having one, and I look forward to being on the forums.

Plans for the future (besides a new stereo) include a topper/shell of some type (used off of CL), possibly a new rear bumper if I can't get the factory bumper straightened out. An Ultra-Gauge (inexpensive equivalent of the Scangauge) will go on to monitor MPG, and possibly some newer seat covers and floor liners, since this will be my DD and "home depot run" vehicle. Not planning any long road trips with this one although I wouldn't rule it out (the improved MPG over my 4runner would make this the vehicle of choice for solo trips, but I think it's a little too cramped for the wife and I to both be comfy.)

You can see the little ding on the passenger side door here. Not bad though it does mean the door requires a hard slam.

More pics will come.
