Looking at putting a locking diff in my Mazda b2300 I can get a lock right locker for 400$. Are these reliable? Not going to do heavy off roading but hate getting stuck in dumb sand or mud is this the best way? I found a Detroit locker but is like 500$ what's the difference? Or what axle would fit beat with a LSD. Thanks in advance

Detroit 100%. Dead ass reliable.

I just pulled the lockright out of my 7.5 that I put in in 2001 so I can install 4.56's. The only wear on it was some marking on the cross-pin from the drive gears. This locker has 120,000+ street miles in a '97 2wd with a 2.3.If you keep the tires within reasonable sizes I wouldn't think twice about putting a lockright in an axle.

I just sold a new Lockright to another member for under $200...shop around. They are deadass reliable!

Detroits are great....

BUT....

To install them you have to tear your axle completely apart, then know how to set the gears back up (yes, you have to remove at least your ring gear and quite possibly your pinion gear). The Detroit replaces the entire carrier.

A Lockright (aka Lunchbox Locker) can be installed in an afternoon (or less) and does not require messing with the gears.

My choptop has a Lockright in the front axle and it's worked great (aside from breaking a couple axle shafts because it's a D-28 and I have old Bias-Ply 33" tires on it). I threw one in the rear of my F-150 since I intended to use the truck for plowing, but I'm not quite as happy with it there because it seemed to bind a bit (not quite sure what the issue is yet, most people do not seem to have any problems).
