Can locking hubs, be installed on a 2010 ranger 4x4 ,without changing the whole front end ?

Thank you , John M

No, there is no option for manual hubs on Live Axles

I don't understand why you would want to change away from the live axle. The only reason I haven't had some slugs made to make my truck a like axle is that live axle and u-joints don't go together.

If you are doing it for the illusion of fuel savings or lowering the amount of "wear and tear" don't bother. Having the front end engaged all the time costs about .2 MPG, so it will be decades before you recoup the money you spend on parts in fuel savings. As for wear on the parts, it is minimal since they aren't loaded, just freewheeling.

And neither vacuum or aftermarket lockouts are as durable or reliable as what you have now.

live axle is another mistake by ford, just like going from manual transfer case to that damn electric system

Hardly.

It was the first (and dare I say the last?) time they actually had a good reliable alternative to lockout hubs.

And I think a manual t-case was always an option.

You could but you have to get hubs and axles from a 98, and buy manual lock outs since your truck is not set up with the vacuum lines to lock/unlock the hubs from the axles. It will get expensive and is not worth doing, the manual lock outs tend to fail when you need them the most.. my truck had PVH and I switched to live axle set up, I sure don't regret doing it.

In what ****ing world do you live in? Live axle is by far the best decision they made.... the vacuum hubs are a damn joke.

Even on the new trucks they're using vacuum hubs again and nothing but problems. Live axle is a far superior design.
