locking hub compatibility

The auto locking hubs on my '94 Ranger no longer work, and I was given three used hubs from an Explorer of the same age that still work. They look the same, but can anyone tell me for certain that they are compatible with my truck? I was going to switch to manuals until I was given these and I thought I'd give them a shot to save some cash. Any help is appreciated.

if they slide on they will work, long as both front axles are d35's wich im pretty sure you are youll br good to go, i know there is 2 different spline counts, but i cant remeber them, altho the toher hubs may be crapped to the autos wernt too relialble

Thanks...the guy I got them from is a Ford mechanic who said he wouldn't have kept them if they didn't work, as long as they fit my truck. Thanks for the tips, I'll check all that stuff out, much appreciated.

Hi, I just put the hubs on, and it turns out that one of them is shot. I guess the guy I got them from kept both hubs when he switched them for manuals and forgot to get rid of the one that didn't work. Sorry, I would totally have sent it your way, hopefully you can find one somewhere.
