Locking fuel door / cap

Don’t most filler necks have a screen in them to keep stuff from getting into the gas tank?

Or to keep peeps from sticking a hose down there and siphoning out your gas. But with these new-fangled plastic tanks, all you need do is poke a hole in it and Voila, gas gone.

I did that to a metal tank last week.

To be fair, it was already in the shop to have the tank replaced because of the leak from the pin hole rusted through the bottom. I just made it bigger.

This says nothing about our Rangers?

I agree that the door should lock, but there is this.

did anyone look at the fuel funnel that comes with the truck in case you run out of gas ?
I had asked the salesman about the tamper proof fuel filler, he said the filler tube is bent in a way
that you need that funnel & it is tamper proof....?
I find that hard to believe

my escape was supposed to have a funnel with it, it is missing but Ive been able to add gas with a 3/8 hose & boat primer bulb. havent tried to siphon gas from it. Ive thought about replacing the assembly so it has a real gas cap, seems stupid to not have one & just rely on the fuel door to act as a seal. I find it hard to believe ford felt the need to “tamper-proof” the fuel fill. Hardly a marketing incentive.
