Lockers....Help?

i would rather blame the locker. we went down there all the time for years even or dads went down there in their heeps. we knew what that bronco could and could not do going down that road like we did was something we always did so when he had a lockrite put in and the first time we go down there with the lockrite installed and he cant turn all the way and we hit a tree cause he couldnt turn. you may be right i think it was part the lockers fault like maybe it was stressing the front steering parts and may have bent a steering rod and when we were leavin thats when it showed itslef. but hey im not here to fight or argue with anyone i just rather everyone be safe about what they want to do and hear what happend to me so it wont happen to them

SO we blame the locker for not checking out your rig before getting on the road. If you are unsure of what the rig will do with new parts then maybe one should take it a little easier? YA THINK?:icon_confused:

You did drive into there with the locker in without issue correct?

Anytime you go mudding, rock crawling or romping etc you are asking for disaster if you don't get out of the rig and do a complete check of all systems, steering, brakes, shocks, EVERYTHING. if you are not willing to do that you are a danger to those around you! I always do a complete and thorough inspection everytime I come off of a trail not to do so is being irresponsible

i agree with you but when your 16 and you saved all your money for the locker for the truck you had to work for years to get you just get so caught up in the moment of excitement. im 20 now and after that i will check my truck before and after i go muddin. i did that with my yota and never had a problem i really looked at everything when i would pressure wash everything under neath the truck

See I would never consider driving a locking hub rig around in 2x because it just adds wear to the system, all the drive shaft, axles, gears are now rotating, and yes in that situation there would be locker drag in the system.

Driving around for several months with the hubs unlocked, never moving those parts, circulating the lubrication of heating it up to drive out condensation actually does far more damage.

most of us throw it into 4x atleast once a month. Having XJ's most of my offroad life that was never an issue, the TC disengaged the front drive

I will say I had my B2 in the snow for the first time yesterday since it's had a locker up front. Both some hard pack snow/frozen slush and a foot of virgin snow and it handled great with the front locker, totally predictable and went where I pointed it.
Lockers....Help?

Chalk that one up as lesson learned and don't blame parts of the truck for doing what they're supposed to. :icon_cheers:
