Locker Question

So I am going in for re-gearing soon, from stock to 4.56 front & rear. I drive a lot on-road & some offroad.

Right now I have an open rear, so I picked up a L/S for it. But now I am thinking it may be a good idea to have them throw in a locker in front, while its open.

I am thinking ARB so I can turn it on & off and wouldn't really have any issues adapting to driving with it. But, I am open to suggestions, hence reaching out to you guys.

So to head off any questions, my thinking on the LS in back & the locker in the front is that its in 2wd whenever I am on the street, and just having a L/S would help with any traction issues I may run into there. If I run into any heavy snow conditions, I can always lock the hubs & engage the tcase, while still having an open front. Then, if I run into serious problems, I can engage the front end. I guess same rationale would translate into wheeling as well...

Why not do ARBs in both axles? You'll already have the compressor, it'll just be the cost of the diff itself.

I could, definitely. But then, what do I do with this LS unit? Haha.

But seriously, I like the idea of a LS in back so that I can drive normally, turn at normal speeds, with stuff in the bed, and not have to worry about it. Maybe I am paranoid, though, about a true locker in the rear? Dunno.




What do you guys think a full front ARB setup would cost, said and done? Keep in mind the front diff will be taken apart anyways, for the re-gearing.
 
Hard to say, I'd think $7-800 in just parts? Honestly I'd throw a lunchbox locker in back if it were me.

Yeah, they're pretty overpriced IMO. Think of it this way - you could buy a no-slip for the front and rear by the time you paid for just an ARB in the front.

As great and economical as that sounds, I'd still like to maintain the daily-drivability, if I ever need to use it as that again.

No slips are pretty damn smooth, hell my lock-right isn't even that bad, daily driven for almost a year with it, no complaints.
