Lock or Lift???

The Detroit is out because you probably can't install it properly yourself. I've had a pair of Lock-RIghts in my truck for 7 years and no troubles. I've never had a no-slip so I can't speak for it, though many people that have had both prefer it.

You can buy some little Swampers that will fit your stock 2wd. Put them on the back with a locker and you'll do great things.

I really don't see the need for 35s on a 2wd truck, go for the locker. Check out eBay and Summit too.

the reason for 35s is because someone slashed the tires on my truck and now i need new ones. i have the room and the gearing, why not.

my truck isnt stock. like a foot and a half height difference. i hope to be able to do a lot more with a locker than i do now, when i get it.

whether i get the lock-right or the no-slip really depends on how much my tax check is. im hoping its a lot

but what happens if your state pulls the IOU card lol....

Id go w/ the locker too.

go for the locker and then save for a nice lift like extended beams and radius arms because im kinda dissapointed in my 6" in lift on my 95'. im going through the same boat as you (except im going with a desert truck) and im saving for a locker right now, then long travel.

yea im really looking forward to being locked now. i dont do extreme offroading, i just like to have fun and explore and if a locker will allow me to get to further better places then thats all i want.

i could probably just take out my blocks in the rear and just buy some 4" lift springs... no height change but it would give me some better performance. the blocks are why i wanted a new lift anyways. i know as soon as im locked theres only one place im going.. and thats to the badlands cause ive never been

Winch, winch, winch.

If you want to wheel get a winch it will always get you out. A locked 2wd will just get stuck in worse places then an open 2wd.

Get a winch then a locker.

when "no slip" is mentioned you guys are talking about spools? whats the difference between mini-spool, full-spool and a classified locker?

also i found a mini spool on ebay for $70 but it says won't work in the posi carrier... why?

I would go with the locker but i agree that a winch would do wonders. You haven't got the tires yet have you? Toyo M/T's are ok but they are all 10 ply and you'd be lucky to get over 10K on them. Trust me the shop I work at only carries those and a friend went through 3 sets last summer alone.

i have question. is it a dd or just off road. if mostly off road i would say weld up the spider gears and install the lift .best of both worlds. welding is cheap or free depending on if you have a welder or a friend with a welder. i am welding up my diff it is the cheapest way to go. then you can spend money on the lift. just my 2 cents
