I want to maount the bracket for the wirning harness connector just to the left of center about 8 inches from the top of the fire wall. anybody know if there is any thing back there? Using two self tapping sheet metal screws about 1 inch long.

i would only use half inch screws and tap a pilot hole. can't be too sure if anything is in the way or not, if you can drill the pilot and feel when it goes through you can always use rivets or if you have a horizontal seam that is close to where you want to mount you could fasten to that as well.
