I decided to finally upgrade the horrible sounding factory speakers in my 92 Honda Accord. The speakers in the front doors were originally 5 inch speakers. And when I say 5 inch, I'm not talking about 5 1/4" (which is a very common speaker size), I'm talking about 5 inch. Great job Honda
Therefore, instead of picking through a very limited selection of 5 inch speakers, I bought a set of 4 inch Pioneers that I would try to make fit. Well, they fit....sorta.
The mounting holes were actually close enough so that I could reuse the stock holes in the door. The only problem I have now is there is a gap all the way around the speaker, and the speaker doesn't seal up against the door. As a result, I have no bass and the speakers are just not as loud/efficient as they should be.
I need to fabricate something to seal the speakers. It needs to be cheap and easy. I don't care what it looks like (it's gonna be hidden behind the door panel anyway) and I don't care if it's slightly ghetto. This is a very "budget-y" build. Only have about $210 invested so far in head unit and 4 speakers
And it sounds AWESOME, except for this front speaker problem I'm having. I can't wait for this problem to be fixed.
I was thinking about using cardboard or rubber cut out in a circle and tape/glue it to the door, but there's gotta be some better way. Suggestions?
