I bought a 91 Ranger, 3.0, 2wd, 5 speed for a lil bit of nothing it had a blown head gasket and had been sitting for two years. I replaced both head gaskets, plugs, wires, cap button, fuel pump and filter and timing chain. I put it back together and forgot where two vaccum lines go i think they start at the vaccum tree on the back of the intake man. but cant figure out where they go:icon_confused: they are two little black hoses that have certain bends in them. I've looked at dozens of diagrams but have still failed to figure them out. I have been driving the truck for a couple of months with the tree ports pluged but i think im losing power like that and it idles rough. If any one could help or take pics of there 3.0 vaccum routes about that year that would be great.

just follow the diagram on the trucks core support. locate each item on the list and see what doesnt have vacuum going to it.

Thanks, but like i said i've looked at dozens of diagrams and they do me no good. i've got all the mains hooked up just dont know wat these two lttle ones go to

the only vacuum items not shown on the diagram are the heater controls near the blower motor.

those are hooked up also, i dont know where else they would go. I noticed 2 ports on the factory air filter housing wat do those connect to? ive only got one hose on it (black w/ yellow tracer) it goes under the intake some where, but the other is open. I really appreciate the help Wicked sludge

my old 4.0 had 2 running into the air filter cover. i always had them hooked up. but i left them off before and it ran fine.

the bimetal valve on the filter box hooks to engine vacuum. the other port on the filter box hooks to the preheater damper door on the intake. you can run without it, but you will loose fuel economy in cold weather and could have throttle body icing problems in certain conditions.
