I did this to my 84 B2 just to add some flare. I did this out of bordom so don't flame me too much. I used duct tape, and some flat black spray paint i had lying around (sprayed into a little cup) and a brush. Basically made sure it was taped real good and brushed it on so it's not the greatest but from 5' it looks good.

Not bad looking... Might do something like this if the covers i wanted to get stick out too much and look out of place. lol

Any1 have any ideas how you could make it look better and last longer?

Getting ready to do that to mine as well, I like it plus my paint is black

I like it!!

I wonder if you sprayed some clearcoat over it if it would be more resiliant? Or maybe even cover them in that clear 300m protective film stuff?

Thanks for the comments. Like I said I was bored and thought it would look cool.

I'm hoping to make it out to Tyler soon, have to look all you guys up!

Look on the rangers of texas, I was trying to get some people together sunday at 1 to go to the east texas auto/cycle show.

Dam that looks good, I may blantantly thieve that idea from you.:icon_thumby:

I did the same thing on my 89 Ranger about 12 years ago. I sanded the entire taillight, painted it with color match paint, and cleared the whole thing. It was still holding up good about 2 years ago when I got rid of the truck.

I think i will actually do that over getting the covers. Everytime i look back at that picture it looks better lol.

So do do this the best to make it last and look good... What would need to be done? Any specific type of paint/coats/etc?

looks good dude! i did that a couple years ago too.

use krylon fusion spray paint (for plastic)

when i prep for fusion paint, i just wash the part real well, then wipe it down with a rag and a little rubbing alcohol. several thin coats, and your done.

btw, i really like the look of this. much better than covers or that "nightshade" stuff since it doesn't block the taillight
