Anyone have experience running the lightweight (thinner than stock) flywheels/clutch assys on a 2.3 with a manual trans and an internal slave cylinder? I know there is a longer throwout bearing available for the externally operated release levers, but I know nothing about those trannys with the internal hydraulics.

We ran a escort flywheel setup in the race truck.Weighs about 8 lbs, lighter and could notice the difference off the corners. We also ran a lighter clutch and pressure plate.I think the Fidenza flywheels are the correct thickness and bolt right up with you clutch.Kinda pricey

Thanks for the info. I have one of the 10,000 PM lite flywheel/clutch setups. weighs about 11 lbs total. also have the longer throwout bearing but i don't know if that bearing will work with the internal slave cylinders. i have a 4 speed with the external slave, but it won't work with the S10 confuguration.

I think there is enough action in the stock bearing.I was going to put spacers behind the bearing and space it out further so that we could use the 10,000 flywheel but decide to go to the escort setup so that we wouldn't be illegal in our class. You got the trans out yet?Maybe you could just set it up in there to see what kinda distance you have.Keep us posted

Thanks for the info. I'm trying to use a 4 speed tranny and bellhousing from an 86 Mustang 2.3. It fits perfectly but the starter will not clear the S10 lower control arm mounts. So far haven't been able to find one of the small diameter starters that will work. A starter from a 93 Ranger bolts up perfectly but the starter gear is larger and will not engage the teeth. As a last resort I may have to go with the 5 speed with an internal slave cylinder. Trying to avoid that if possible.
