Im wonder if maybe its a fuse, but all the other lights work, well the long skinn light in the dome is missing, i need to get a whole new dome light piece from a junk yard or something. I checked the bulbs in it and all 3 looked fine, i even swapped them for new ones, still dont work. What needs to be on for those lights to turn on, assuming they were working, and what possibilities could they not be working at all for?

the lights should come on when a door is opened.

try rolling your dash light dimmer switch all the way past the brightest setting (it will click). do the lights come on then? if not you have a power supply issue (fuse?). if they do come on, your door switches are probably stuck.

ive tried the wd40 trick in the door latch, still no help. At first I rolled the switch up and lights no on. so I checked the fuses, all seemed ok, I have no idea what one is for what, but I pulled about 10 and all looked good, and put back, now when i roll switch up, those lights come on.. at least the 2 white ones do, not sure about the middle red.

is there a fuse map or something so i can know what im pulling and to check

get a friend to step on the brake pedal or lean something heavy against it while you watch the red light

so those lights only turn on when the door is open? is it connected in the dome light circuit in some way then? that could be why it dont open because I need to replace the entire dome light thing.

I think the white lights you are talking about only turn on when the vehicle is in Reverse. The red light comes on when you step on the brake. There really isn't any connection to the dome light except that they both are connected to +12 volts through their own switches.

pretty sure he is talking about the exterior lights, above the rear window. the red one is your 3rd brake light, and the 2 white ones are the cargo lights. the red one only comes on with the brakes (obviously) and the white ones only come on when you turn on the dome light (with the switch, not with the door)

What a hoot! All this time I was assuming the white light(s) were backup lights.... just never paid any attention to them while backing up at night.

So wait is he talking about the third brake light and cargo lights or is he talking about the inside light. really can some one educate this guy plz so we might be able to help him out.. My thought is that the light want work when he is looking at it because he cant step on the brake and look at the same time.

its the outside light. the red one lights up when i push on brakes, haven't put it in reversed and looked yet, just figured it worked. i used a long stick to push the pedal :icon_thumby:

the white ones are the cargo lights, not backup lights. imo

that correct. the white ones should only come on with the int. switch is turnd up all the way.
